Detroit is in the middle of a resurgence, yet the city can’t be great without great education and at the heart of great education are great teachers. That is why Teach 313 dedicates itself to making Detroit the best city in America for teachers. How are we doing this? By ensuring a high quality of life and a thriving career for every Detroit educator. This includes creating a central hub for resources, incentives, and career opportunities through our online platform and app. We also encourage the business community to get engaged and create unique offerings to help lower the cost of living for our teaching professionals.

Strategic Community Partners (SCP) is the lead agency behind Teach 313. SCP is a national organization that works with mission-driven organizations rooted in education, equity, and justice. We help organizations build capacity by pairing strategy with community and cultural context to drive forward powerful missions.

Elevator Pitch

We are looking for an exemplary consultant with a passion for Detroit, all of our schools, and teachers. This person will work alongside the Teach 313 Manager in implementing vision and strategy. They will also work directly with colleges and universities, community organizations, local businesses, and beyond—all to increase teacher recruitment and retention.

We are looking for an exceptionally organized and results-driven person who is able to interface with several organizations with unwavering energy and focus on teacher recruitment and retention. This person must also handle multiple projects and tasks at once as well as work autonomously and independently.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required


  • At least three years of work experience with evidence of an exemplary proven track record of results
  • At least two years of experience serving as the lead contact, organizer, and point-person for events and efforts, including crisis management
  • At least two years of experience working in a mission-driven organization committed to education, equity, and/or justice
  • Proven track record of exemplary decision-making and judgement while leading education/community initiatives


  • Compelling and influential communicator
  • Detail oriented and a good multi-tasker
  • Can work autonomously, comfortable with ambiguity
  • Strong organization and planning habits
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including, yet not limited to, ability to proactively identify crisis management concerns and mitigate during organizing and planning phases
  • Ability to be flexible and jump into any role necessary

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the recruitment of 100 teachers to Detroit by June 2020
  • Engage 2,000 teachers in Detroit through listening sessions, networking events and social
  • Support the day-to-day work of the Teach 313 Manager
  • Work alongside the communications team to ensure the vision and mission is reaching all areas and communities
