With the situation regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) evolving rapidly, we are closely monitoring the situation with the utmost concern for the safety of our community of educators and guests. As of right now, we are planning on hosting the summit as planned in June. However, we will continue to monitor the situation and make updates as necessary. All official updates regarding the status of the Summit will be made through our website and social media channels.

Teach 313’s National Educator Summit is a unique three-day experience focused on providing educators from across the country with an opportunity to connect with Detroit’s communities, school leaders, teachers, and students. Educators will be able to:

  • Network and build relationships with other educators and leaders from across the nation
  • Identify challenges facing Detroit’s education community and create actionable teacher leadership plans to address them
  • Engage with current Detroit educators
  • Interview with Detroit schools to potentially receive an on-the-spot offer for the 2020-2021 school year

Summit FAQs

What is the National Educator Summit? The National Educator Summit is a unique two-day experience focused on providing educators from across the country with an opportunity to connect with Detroit’s communities, school leaders, teachers, and students. Educators will be able to:

  • Network and build relationships with other educators and leaders from across the nation
  • Identify challenges facing Detroit’s education community and create actionable teacher leadership plans to address them
  • Engage with current Detroit educators
  • Interview with Detroit schools to potentially receive an on-the-spot offer for the 2020-2021 school year
 

If I apply, am I automatically guaranteed a spot?

Teachers who apply are not guaranteed a spot at the National Educator Summit. A member of the Teach 313 team will review your application and see if it fits our partner schools need as well as the requirements.

 

If I attend the summit, am I guaranteed a job?

Attendees are not guaranteed a job, however, you are invited because your skills and teaching certification match job openings with our school partners, you will also participate in on-site in-person interviews with school partners on Sunday, June 7th. You may also participate in a video or phone interview before the summit as well.

 

What are the requirements for Teach 313?

  • Have a teacher certification in your respective state or about to receive one for the 2020/2021 school year
  • A strong interest and ability to live and teach in Detroit beginning in the 2020/2021 school year
 

Will my flight and lodging be paid for?

  • Teach 313 will book and pay for attendees’ flights. Flights will be booked for either the morning (before noon) or evening (after 5pm) of Friday June 5th for arrival in Detroit (Detroit airport code is DTW, 25 minutes outside of the city). Attendees will be given the option of a preference for AM or PM flights.
  • Return flights will also be booked by Teach 313 for late afternoon/early evening on Sunday, June 7th
  • Specific requests regarding specific flight times and airlines will not be accepted due to the mass amount of airline flights that will need to be purchased for the summit, we will do our best to accommodate everyone.
 

Will meals be covered?

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be covered on Saturday and breakfast and lunch will be covered on Sunday.
